Mr. Karsten joined Statoil ASA/Equinor ASA in 2002. Prior to that, he worked in investment banking and as Head of Continental European trading for the largest Norwegian power producer.

 

Within Equinor, Karsten has held several leadership positions in the Natural Gas, Energy & Retail, International Upstream Development and Production, Renewable Energy and Low Carbon Solutions Divisions. He has been Country Manager in Germany, Azerbaijan and Japan prior to his appointment as Country Manager in China, a position he will take up during the second quarter of 2026. While most of his career has been in the business line (business development or asset management) he has also extensive experience from staff functions (finance/controlling, HSE and audit).
